Summer Holidays

BORED

ONE. I think I… erm… actually miss having homework to do.

Roar.

TWO. On a happier note, I’ll be leaving for Toronto day after tomorrow!!!

(Although in all likelihood, I’ll probably end up being even more bored than I’m feeling right now. A month in Mississauga?!! –weak smile-)

Update. Re: My Uneventful Life

Monday- Lunch with BH Roomie Lorau @Itamae Sushi, before tutoring and debate training. I was terribly rusty during training. It was obvious that I had completely forgotten how to do a whip speech! Fortunately, as always, Elton was around to help and give advice.

Tuesday- McD lunch with Manwa at IFC and met Mekka at Alexander House, and before spending the afternoon wandering around Central by myself. Finally ended up at Times Square, where I bought a copy of Murakami’s South of the Border, West of the Sun, and sat snuggled in a Starbucks couch with a grande Signature Hot Chocolate for a couple of hours. (Murakami left me devastated. I dare not comment on the book until I’ve read it at least 10 more times.)

Wednesday- Sat around doing nothing until my job interview at a tutorial centre at 6pm. Unlikely to take the job because they pay less than what I’m used to, and the air conditioning there doesn’t seem to work. Just had McD nuggets and a taro pie for dinner, and plan to spend the rest of the night lazing at home. Actually I’m already starting to feel sleepy after all that greasy junk food, ha ha ha.

mc d green sauce

Strange, radioactive-looking dipping sauce from McD. Imagine how gross the “white meat” nuggets would look when coated with a layer of this green slime. Ergo, don’t get this dip. (It doesn’t even taste that good. Totally not worth the cancer!)

Feeling Very Lazy…

Just woke up slightly past 1pm.

Was awake until 7am this morning ‘cos I was “boiling” Personal Preference, the new Korean drama starring Lee Min Ho and Son Ye Jin. I started on Episode 1 at around 2pm yesterday, and other than the hour that I took for dinner, basically managed to watch all 16 episodes in one sitting… Which translates to approximately 16 hours of sitting and staring at my computer? Ha ha ha terrible. It was really, really nice to just sit back and vegetate though.

personal preference

Anyway, I will be tutoring a little Primary Six girl at Pokfulam this afternoon, before going back to school for debate training. It feels like reality is kicking back in and that my purely hea holiday is over… Uuuurrgghhh I’m feeling sooooo lazy, I don’t want to move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone pull me up from this chair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

39th Intervarsity Debating Contest (HKU v CUHK)

Date :13th June 2010 (Sunday)
Time : 2:00pm - 6:00pm
Venue: LE1, The University Of Hong Kong

Only 9 days and 3 trainings left. Since I’ve already impulsively agreed to help even though I haven’t debated in a year and a half, and know next to nothing about China, then I guess there’s no choice but to go all out and do my best, eh?

My scary/evil debater look:

debaterCUHK is going downnnnn!!! Mwahahahahahahahahahaha!!!

New Territories

Went up to Sheng Shui/Fanling to play with my lovely “kids” PK and Rita today!!! Can you imagine? When I first got to know them at the HKPDS debate camp back in 2007, I was just about to enter university and they had just finished the HKCEE… Now I’m a university graduate, and they’ve already completed their first year of university! How time flies!!!

KFC Lunch I dragged PK and Rita to KFC for lunch. And for this I totally blame E Wan, for tempting me with all the pictures of fried chicken she’s been putting up on her Xanga. Ha ha ha. Oh, and the cheese wedges/ criss-cut fries/ whatever-those-potato-things-are were REALLY GOOD. Highly recommended! :D

Sheung Shui

Sheung Shui market was pretty small, but really interesting. Lots of really fresh-looking vegetables, salted fish and old toys that were probably stocked at least 10 years ago but no one ever got round to buying. I also got really, really excited when I got to see a green taxi, and literally gave a little loud squeal when I saw it, ha ha ha.

Walled Village Rita brought us to her aunt’s home inside the Sheung Shui walled village- it was a very nice, comfortable home with 4-storeys that seemed bigger on the inside than it looked from the outside. Lotsa mosquitoes though. >,< We also walked around the village and visited the local ancestral hall. Felt so lucky to have Rita with me, cos she knows a lot about the area and gave us a very interesting and educational (!) commentary about practically everything we saw. She even knew the names of the random orange fruit we saw growing on the trees!!! =,=’’’

PK Cat

After that we went back to PK’s home to play with his very cute and extremely intelligent cat. He found this cat under a tree on Pokfulam Road, and brought it home- I think my mum would murder me if I tried to do the same thing, ha ha. Anyway, it was really hard to get a picture with the cat because it was such a hyperactive little ball of energy that simply refused to sit still. Cute!!!

P1010660

Anyway, I’m feeling really sleepy and am not really in the mood to provide too much commentary. But to sum up, PK went back to hall for Hockey training after that, so we took the train to Mong Kok together. Walked around Langham alone for a while after dinner with PK (wonton noodles), and came across this shop display. Contrast the not-conventionally-attractive middle-aged man with the “sweet young thing” with a deer-in-the-spotlight expression on her face. Clearly the “range” of men who are perceived to be able to “sell clothes” is much wider than how women are “allowed” to look in the fashion industry. Soci Images training just makes stuff like this scream at you, does it not? :)

Aaargh my legs are so tired from all the walking so enough talking... Good night!!!

Went down to Causeway Bay…

And was greeted by this huge advertisement featuring Kimura Takuya, a.k.a. the most gorgeous and perfect man on the entire frickin planet.

P1010542

I don’t really like his hairstyle in this picture, but omgggg look at that beautiful face… It’s PERFECT!!!!! >,<’’’

Anyway, I’m very happy that my eye-candy feast has not ended with the trip to Korea.

Ha ha ha. ^-^

Legal Interflow Trip Update #5: My HKU Friends!!! :)

friends friends 2

Anyway, I’m posting a bigger version of one of the pictures above so that you can see Matt and I “chok yeung” more clearly:

(L-R: Joey, Deb, Me, Matt, Manwa, June. I spent most of this trip hanging out with them.)

And here’s a bigger version of the picture of us in suits for the Kim & Chang law firm visit, just because I think I actually look semi-intelligent in formal wear and would like to show-off:

P1010372 (The one standing next to me is my roommate, Queenie!)

Too bad I’m not going to become a lawyer, right? I think I totally look the part, ha ha ha!!!

Anyway, I was just telling them that since I’m not going to continue with the LL.B. at HKU, this is possibly the last time that I’ll have to wear a plain black-and-white suit in my life. I mean, from now on… I’ll be allowed to wear… Stripes! And colours! And ruffles!!! Lol. :)

Legal Interflow Trip Update #4: Exchange Buddies

Ewha & ALSA

These amazing ladies- law students from Ewha Womans University and ALSA Korea- took the time out to show us around Seoul over the last few days even though they are only a week a way from their law exams… Can you imagine?? Law students volunteering to take time away from their books during a crucial study period to show a group of random strangers around??!!! They were such, such gracious hosts, and I was completely stunned by their generosity.  I spent the most time with Lauren and Julia- who were incredibly nice, and perfectly hilarious. Before the trip, I was grumbling about having to do our exchange with a women’s university… But on hindsight, I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better or friendlier group of exchange buddies!!! And maaaannn if I were Korean/spoke Korean, I’d definitely want to attend Ewha… Their campus is GORGEOUS!!!!!
